A Natural Eye: Our Urban Parks - Spring in Virginia

March 22-24, 2013
with Eddie Soloway

Virginia in late March is a time when the land comes alive, trees and flowers are blooming, and color spreads across the once wintry landscape. Join me in Virginia to re-energize your photography with exciting ideas designed to open your eyes and change your perspective, practical skills to fine-tune your vision, in-the-field sessions, and for those people prepared for the digital workflow, a chance to review your efforts. This is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the key ideas and sessions from my week long Natural Eye workshop. At the end of the workshop you will find yourself focused less on objects and things and more on the magic of moments and the essence of places.

Calumet Photographic’s Tyson's Corner location becomes our classroom, and the nearby Meadowlark Botanical Garden gives us great access to the spring landscape. The weekend starts Friday evening with a public presentation sponsored by Calumet Photographic and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. From 7:00-8:15pm I will be presenting "Memories, Moons, and Imagination", an inspirational session designed to set the tone for our weekend. The weekend sessions will also be at Calumet, and will run from 9am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Join this celebration of spring while bringing your photography into new directions.

WORKSHOP FEE: $575.00. Lodging, transportation, and meals are not included.

PREREQUISITE: This workshop is open to all photographers with a working knowledge of their cameras. On Sunday there will be two chances to review images made during the workshop. The first will be a look at images made Saturday, and the second will be a look at the results of a creative exercise on Sunday. If you wish to participate in these reviews you will need to bring a laptop, editing software, card reader, jump drive, and above all, a working knowledge of the digital workflow. This would include the ability to download your images to your laptop on Saturday night, make selections, re-name and re-size the selections, move them to a folder, and put them on a jump drive to move to the class laptop for projection. Sunday's creative session will require you to bring your laptop to the classroom. There will be no digital workflow instruction during the workshop. For those participants choosing to pass on the image review, a lot will be gained from listening to the feedback given to others.

To hold a place in the workshop, 1.) Send me an e-mail and request that I hold a space for you in the workshop and that I send you a registration form. 2.) The registration form will be sent via e-mail, and your space will be held for one week while waiting for your registration form to arrive in the mail or by e-mail.

PAYMENT: A $100.00 nonrefundable deposit will hold your reservation and may be made by check, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Final payment is due February 28.

CONFIRMATION DATE: You will receive an e-mail notice by February 22 giving the workshop a final confirmation that it will run.

CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event you must cancel your participation, fees will be returned as follows: If notification is received before February 28, all fees less the $100.00 nonrefundable deposit will be returned. If notification is received on or after February 28, no money will be returned. I strongly suggest that participants take out travel and trip insurance to protect themselves against unseen circumstances that may arise. In the event that I have to cancel the workshop for any reason, all fees will be returned or you may choose to receive credit towards a future session.

Upon workshop confirmation you will be sent information which will include a letter with directions, and recommendations about what to bring. You will also receive a request form that will gather information about any medical concerns and emergency contacts.
